What is TyFlicks, and how does it work?

TyFlicks is a personal movie and TV library running on a storage server at Tyler’s home. Plex is the app that lets you watch that library on your TV, phone, tablet, or computer—even when you’re away from home.

Your Plex appBrowse, press play & enjoy

When you press play, the video streams from Tyler’s server to your device over the internet. Think of it as a movie collection shared with friends and family, with Plex making it easy to browse and watch.

Everyone shares the same server and its internet connection, so occasional buffering, maintenance, or downtime can happen. Please close streams when you’re finished watching.

  1. Let’s be chill.

We’re here to hang out and have fun. Bullying, harassment, discrimination, or unnecessary drama won’t be tolerated. Treat people how you’d want to be treated.

  2. Keep your accounts personal.

Your Plex account is yours. Please don’t share your login information. If someone you know wants to join, invite them so they can get set up with their own account.

  3. Keep it invite-only.

TyFlicks is a small community of close friends and family. Please don’t spread invitations publicly or share them far and wide. Close friends and family only!

  4. Report issues—but don’t spam.

If a movie won’t play or you’re having trouble with the server, please let Tyler know. Avoid repeated reports or messages about the same issue. It’s one person running this, and fixes can take time.

  5. Use some common sense.

This runs on a single NAS, with limited bandwidth and computing power. Avoid running multiple streams at once, especially when you aren’t watching them, so everyone can enjoy their shows.

  6. Requests are welcome, but not guaranteed.

You’re welcome to request movies and TV shows. Some titles are harder to find than others, and requests may take time. Availability isn’t guaranteed.

  7. Most importantly, have fun!

That’s why TyFlicks exists. Grab some popcorn, find something good to watch, and enjoy yourself. Help keep this a place everyone feels welcome.
